The case is closed. Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by Sal Singh. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it.
But having grown up in the same small town that was consumed by the murder, Pippa Fitz-Amobi isn't so sure. When she chooses the case as the topic for her final year project, she starts to uncover secrets that someone in town desperately wants to stay hidden. And if the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth? - excerpt from Goodreads.

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson is her first debut into the world of YA thriller/mystery. I have definitely not been active in the bookstagram scene, hence this book wasn't on my radar at all. As someone who love 'Truly Devious' and 'Charlotte Holmes' series, this was right down my alley. I will confess that I am pretty picky when it comes to these genre as Pretty Little Liars, The Lying Game are similar but I did not have a liking to the plot line. My favourite have always been a crime being solved because I love to form my speculations, gather the facts from the book and have my own set of suspects, a little sleuthing while I read. Books like these are so much fun because when you get to the end, you get to know if you had the right target as well.
Just by reading the summary provided, I was already excited to pick it up. I loved the characters, the plot lines, the writing and how the author structured the book. My favourite part has to be Andie's logs where the details and interviews really shows how much effort the author has put into this character. Besides getting to know Andie through her conversations and actions, these logs also breathe some parts of her personality. Whenever the character makes a discovery, you will be on your toes filled with excitement. Her interviews with people pulls you in to go over your facts, her actions from her discovery changes the direction of the plots quickly.
As for other characters in the stories, they are great in pushing Andie on her journey. The dynamics of Andie with the supporting cast give assurances to the readers that you are in for the whole ride. One character definitely stood out and that is Ravi as he is also on this quest to uncover the truth. How Ravi is able to support and bring out a different Andie is just smoothly written into their conversations and encounters. There are other key characters (which I will not mention because it will give away the story) who accentuated the plot and they were definitely crucial in uncovering more of Andie's hidden talents.
The thing about murder mysteries or thriller genre, it has to be fast paced like any action movie. I can totally picture this book as a movie and I'll be sitting at the edge of my seat from start till end. Its gripping elements contributes to you the reader not being able to put down the book until you have the whole truth. Without a doubt I would recommend this to any Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes fan. It is unforgettable and truly plotted in the most detail and intricate as it can be. I absolutely loved it and jumped straight into the second book immediately.
