Revenge, Ice Cream and Other Things Best Served Cold by Katie Finn is the second book in the Broken Hearts and Revenge trilogy. The book immediately continues where we left off in the first book. I was really anticipating this book and hoping for it to be good which I was not disappointed at all. The plot was very smooth with many good incidents/twists happening in the book. I especially loved the last plot twist towards the end of the book. It really surprised me because I did not see it coming at all.
What I love about this book is definitely the characters. When two certain characters have an interaction in the book I was so excited for it. I really wished there were more moments for the two of them but I think the author limited it on purpose for the plot to move forward. The side characters played more roles this time round and it was fun having them around. It certainly helped the main characters grow and influence their actions. As for the main character, she definitely grew and learnt a lot, it was so fun reading about her reactions to the twists that happened. The author certainly made these characters really realistic because those characters acted like how a typical person would.
The romance of the book is not unbelievable and it was simple. I like stories that has simplistic romance, not full of drama or complications. What you will find is a normal relationship between characters. Sometimes unrealistic happy endings gives people false ideas when it comes to romance and love. I love that this book reminds us about the simple relationships we can have and how one's attitude towards incidents could make an impact for yourself and others. Revenge is never a good thing and I really love the message that the author is trying to convey in the book.
Overall, if you have read the first book I highly recommend you continue with the series because it's still good. Probably I anticipated too much but I was still quite hook to the book. My attention was well kept on by the story. There were funny moments and exciting moments in the book. To compare with the first I think I love the first one a little bit more because it was funnier but this book had better characters. With that ending for this book, I can't wait to get my hands on the last book and see what happens to those relationships.
I haven't heard of this series, but the title for this one makes it sound so fun. I like that the author doesn't get caught up with unnecessary drama. I like books about relationships, but if I feel the author is making things complicated for no other reason than to make it more "interesting" then they lose me. Enjoyed your review!

ReplyDeleteThank you. I can't wait for the conclusion, it's out in hardback so I'm contemplating whether to get it or not. I'm kinda OCD when it comes to have my series matching =P
