A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas is the second book in the series. Firstly I have to say after finishing this book I was left with no words and in quite of a shock. This book amazed me and made me love this author even more. Without a doubt, currently the best fantasy book I've read this year followed by the first book behind. The world built in the first book was just a fraction and this time readers get to read about more courts in the land of Prythian which was gorgeous in my opinion. The detail of the other courts were just so so good and I wished I could picture it all completely in my head. I would love to live in that world that is so special and beautiful.

Let's get into the characters which I love love love so much!! We all know what Feyre went through in the first book and therefore in this book she changes and grows. Her character development was so great in this book. She could annoy me at one point, make me pity her, love her and hope for the best for her. All sorts of emotions are drawn out of me while reading about her. As for the main star of the book (IMO) that many many fans are loving is Rhysand. He was a mystery in the first book but in this one he gained many many love from readers. I was so excited to read more and more about him and somehow I knew he was the one that many will love. Although Feyre was the main character I believe he stood out more than her. His character is truly special and he went through so much growth in the book. Besides that, his past was also very rich to read about. There isn't a part in the book when they interact with each other that I did not love at all and I'm always wanting more.

As for the side characters of the book, we were introduced to more members in this book. I love them so much too because they are so involved in shaping both Feyre and Rhysand's personalities and actions. Those characters are unique and wonderful and so supportive for the main. I cannot imagine this book without this bunch of characters as they drive and move the plot forward so well. The relationships between all the characters is the key to making this book so amazing for me. I love that the author put so much thought and effort into characters and their own stories.

There was so much excitement in the plots as twists and turns are like a crazy roller coaster ride. From the start to end, I swear it won't fail to make your heart beat fast for them. The action was very good and I felt that the pace was good, nothing was lacking, no flaws I could complain about. Even though it was a thick book, I didn't feel overwhelmed and could not ask for more. When it came to the final chapters of the book, everything heated up quickly and then with the ending you'll just can't wait for the last one. I'm super impressed with the author's ability to capture my attention and grasp reader's emotions so well. I really do not know how to convince you anymore, so just head over to goodreads and check out other review and I'm pretty sure it's 80% the same opinions. Young adult lovers of fantasy genre, do pick up this series if you have not, or if you were not impressed with the first book, this one will blow your shoes off.

The Conspiracy of Us by Maggie Hall is first the series that is full of mystery. If you are fond of books like The Da Vinci Code or anything to do with deciphering codes and looking for treasure then this book is your cup of tea. I truly enjoyed this book as this is my first time reading this genre on the young adult side. The book started off quite well, the plot slowly thickens and then catches you by surprise. My attention is well kept for majority of the book as there were so much mystery involved. I would say that things happened in the book at a good pace, quite action packed throughout.

The characters were quite interesting, especially the male characters. There is so much to learn about them but the author only revealed a little to keep you hooked. The female protagonist is unexpected, though she started off naive but there was much growth to her in the book. Her interactions with the male characters certainly make this book an abundance of excitement. The emotions involved were captivating for me as you wonder with her about the boys.

Overall the book was a good start which I kinda felt that had a potential to be a movie. The pace was really good and the twists and turns were so unpredictable. I really loved the relationships of the characters. I'm quite excited to read the second book which I think will be good. I wonder how the relationships will further development and am really excited about the mystery behind the prophecy. I highly recommend this book to mystery lovers, treasure hunting lovers or readers who just enjoy a good adventure.

All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven  is a standalone book in the contemporary young adult. There were many good reviews about the book and many have loved it and cried over it. I went in with quite high expectations and honestly I've read very good books on grieving. Unfortunately, it was an okay book for me. I think the problem I had with the book is I couldn't connect with the characters nor could I relate to them.

The main characters consist of the girl and guy with dual point of views written. I didn't feel that Violet's grief was strong enough nor did it impact me till it reminded me of my own grief. I felt she was a character that had not enough depth. Fortunately she did had much growth in the book and that was good to read about. As for Theo he was someone that I had a hard time understanding. He is a character that seemed to have too much thoughts and also there seems to be too much happening for him or nothing at all. I felt that their interaction in the book was okay, realistic enough but not deep enough.

As for the plot of the book, it was just mediocre and not enough twist and turns happening. I took some time to complete the book. I do appreciate the dual perspective in the story because it was interesting to know what both parties think and do. I don't think I can comment more about the plot because there was nothing to applaud nor was there anything to complain about. I do think that the last parts of the book is the best part. 

In summary, it was an okay book about grieving and a person who was suicidal. I like the intention of the author for writing this book because it does pass an important message to the readers. Because I've read quite a few books related to grieving written by Jandy Nelson, I compared it. Obviously, Jandy Nelson is more superior and I cried reading both her books. For this book, I did not cry and it was not a page turner for me. I could easily put down the book. I'm kinda sad that I did not enjoy this book like the others but I wanted to write an honest review. My suggestion is to read this book before Jandy Nelson's so you wouldn't compare it like I did. PS: I heard there will be a movie made based on this book, so I'm looking forward to the actor's portray of the characters.

Revenge, Ice Cream and Other Things Best Served Cold by Katie Finn is the second book in the Broken Hearts and Revenge trilogy. The book immediately continues where we left off in the first book. I was really anticipating this book and hoping for it to be good which I was not disappointed at all. The plot was very smooth with many good incidents/twists happening in the book. I especially loved the last plot twist towards the end of the book. It really surprised me because I did not see it coming at all.

The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead is a story about a girl who escapes her arranged marriage and went into hiding. Sadly this book was a disappointment for me. I expected the plot to be more rich after reading the summary of the book. I felt that the world that was built was lacking in some places, there wasn't enough depth. Secondly, her time in the school was a little bit too brief for me as I wanted more incidents to happen in there. 

The plot can be boring and slow paced at times and then suddenly there was so much happening but still lacking depth in those twist and turns. It was quite a let down and I was having a hard time to finish this book. I did put it aside for another book as this did not capture my attention at all. Towards the last 100 over pages I just merely skim through reading only conversations and it was enough to let me know about the story.

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard is the second book in this trilogy and I have to say I was a bit disappointed in it. I think it's because I was expecting a lot more action in this book but it was not up to my standard nonetheless it was still a good sequel. I think the highlight of this book is the character growth but I sometimes find Mare a bit whiny. Her interactions with other characters are sometimes exciting and also frustrating too. There were moments that I wanted to slap her so so bad. Mare did change a lot in the whole journey of this book to the point that either you love her or hate her. 

Top 5 Wednesday : Most Recent Additions to my Wishlist

As a reader or most would call me a book addict I have a very long wish list of books. I can never read as fast as I add them to the list. But sadly, I also don't buy those books so quickly because cash is always a problem (must not overspend you see =P). I'm always influenced by Bookstagram and BookTube videos, and it is those recommendations that I always add new books in my wish list. So here are the Top 5 books that I've recently added into my wish list that I really really want to buy soon....if I can reduce my TBR pile to 50% of it's current amount.

Air Awakens by Elise Kova

I've recently seen many of this series being pictured in Bookstagram and I've heard many good things by the readers. It's rating on GoodReads is particularly good at least 4 stars. 

Uprooted by Naomi Novik

This book's cover was really beautiful in pictures and since it's a fantasy book it gave me reason to put into my wishlist.

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

The final book to the series was out this April which I've heard nothing but good things in the Bookstagram community. Since everything is out I'm hopeful that I will purchase all 4 together and then binge read them if I can.

Passenger by Alexandra Bracken

After reading this author's The Darkest Minds, I was instantly hooked to her writing. This book was released at the start of the year where I heard time traveling is involved. I am always convinced to put a book into my wishlist with that key word. I hope I would love this book because it seems to be a hit and miss with readers, either you love it or you don't.

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

Although this book will not be out until September I have already put it into my wishlist. This was a book that I loved very much last year and I cannot wait for the sequel to come. This book will be the last book making it a duology. 

If you know of the books I've listed, it is all in the fantasy genre which I love the most. Those books certainly have covers that attract your attention but it's the content that matters more.  Hopefully by September I would be able to order these books =D. Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton is a story about a girl trying to escape from her terrible circumstances and then find her fate in the world. This book had a good start and then a slow middle part and then a great climax. It took me sometime to read this book when I was in the middle as the plot is just okay then. When I reached about 75% of the book it started to get really good. All the excitement was kinda focused at the later parts of the book. The world built for this book was quite good as I have not often read books that are Arabic inspired.

The characters were good in this book, I liked them very much. The struggles that the main heroine has to go through kinda drives her in the story. Along with the male character of the book, things are more interesting than when she is on her own. I often look forward for their interactions and adventures together. Towards the end of the book more characters were introduced and I really love them. It was so exciting to read more about them. They truly help bring more life ans excitement into the story.

I thought that for a debut book it was not bad and the author left the ending at a good place to prepare for the next book. I can see a lot of potential for the story to evolve and become better in the second book. It was refreshing indeed reading this book as I could not expect what's to come but even though I felt that way, my attention wasn't captured long enough for me to keep reading. Towards the end of the book is where it became a book that is hard to put down. I do recommend this book to those readers who enjoy Arabic theme. I think for first in a series it had a good start so fantasy readers should try this book too, it's worth continuing on to the second book.

The Start of You and Me by Emery Lord is a story about a teenage girl who is dealing with her grief and trying to live life again after hiding for a year. I really love this book as I could relate to her feelings and what she is trying to do with her life. Obviously there are certain circumstances that are different between us but the grieve and wanting to start again is quite true.

The plot of the story was really smooth and I really like the incidents that happened in the book. I like how the twist and turns of the story suite the personality of the main character. Everything happens in such good timing and it was such fun reading about her activities. There were good times and sad times and many fun times in the book.

The characters of the book are truly the people who captured me. The friends and family surrounding the main character were such awesome people. Though they are flawed but perfect for the story. The support they offer to the main character was just so heart warming. I would really loved to have more friends like them. I honestly can say that I grieve a lot on my own and did not have many friends reaching out to me but Paige's friends were just there for her and they are a tight group. As for the boys in the book, they are wonderful boys and I loved reading about their interactions with Paige. Often their activities are ones that fun to read about. One of the family members of the character was also such a great support to her and offered many great advice in life.

Top 5 Wednesday - Books I Wish had Sequels

There are so many standalone books that I have wished there were sequels because the story was just too good to end. Of course those books had good endings but many a times I would really love to read about the characters and their happily ever after. Below are top 5 of my choice without following any order:

The Unbound by Victoria Schwab

I have to say this book ended with a slight cliff hanger because there was still so much more to elaborate on the relationships of the main characters. Many that have read this book like myself are eager to read more about the boy in the story. I have heard rumours that the author might be planning a third book (YAY!).

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

The characters in this series were just so much fun to read about. I wished there was one more book that combined all the characters together featuring their university life.

Most books that I've picked are contemporary books because usually fantasy books have proper ending or at least a satisfying one for readers. It's the characters in these books that made me want to read more about them because their story manage to captivate me well. What are your picks of books that you wished had sequels?

Summerlost

Summer would be same and never the same.

Soon, Cedar not only has a jov working at the reowned Summerlost theater festival, but also a growing friendship with Leo that will blossom as they piece together clues about the short and tragic life of one of Iron Creek's most famous residents. - excerpt from book.

Summerlost by Ally Condie is a standalone middle grade book. It's about this girl who is 12 years old and trying to grief on her father and brother's death. Her summer is totally different because of the missing family members. I really like the characters of this book because it's quite realistic. I could sort of relate to them easily and how they try to deal with their grief. I loved the activities that the festival has, it was quite interesting. I also love the interactions between characters especially Cedar and Leo, Cedar and her other younger brother. I definitely look forward to reading about them all the time. The side chracters are really interesting people too and I wished the author would have gave them more depth like Leo's family.

The plot of the book was very basic and simple with the topic of grieving as the main thing. This was a really short read and so there weren't too many twists and turns, just a reasonable amount. The flow was really smooth, everything happened at a good pace. I truly wished that their adventures would be longer so I would have more to read. I love the writing of the book as how the author managed to describe Cedar's feelings simple yet wonderful at the same time.

If you tend to enjoy middle grade books then do give this book a try. I find that even though it was short it captured my attention well and I love how I could relate to the book. I love that I learnt new things when it comes to the subject of grieving. 

Love, Lies and Spies

Love, Lies and Spies by Cindy Anstey is a historical romance in the YA genre because of the main character’s age I guess. I have always loved this genre and if you’ve been reading my reviews then you know I’ve read many. So the bad thing is that I can compare it with many other books and my verdict for this book is it was just okay. It has a plot that is similar to many other books and I find it quite repeating at some point. But I guess this is because a season London is always the same for the ladies, you can’t run from traditions. So when there was one or two plot twist in the book, those were the parts that managed to capture my attention well. Other than that, generally I was always waiting for something romantic to happen between the characters.

As for the characters, I really wanted more interactions between them. They were not particularly characters that grew with the story because they are who they are. I felt that the side characters were also a bit bland and didn’t necessarily supported the main characters well enough. Sometimes it felt like they were just there hovering around in the background without doing much. Although I have much criticism, I do like the personality of the characters which is one of the reasons that I kept reading the book. They are not special people but their personality fit the plot very well.

In conclusion, I would say that this book is not boring but not too exciting to read. It certainly was entertaining but at the borderline of almost dropping to the boredom line. I don’t really recommend this to historical romance readers because there are way better books than this. But if you’re interested in the characters themselves maybe you can give it a go, find it in a library. Sadly this is one of those books that I would not read again and probably don’t mind not having in my collection.

This is Where the World Ends

This is Where the World Ends by Amy Zhang is a standalone book about two teenagers who are secret friends and nobody else knows. Something happened to them and Micah can't remember what because Janie is missing. I have heard many praises for the author's first book and I thought I gave this one a shot because I found it in the bookstore. At the start of the book it was quite slowed pace with two POVs. The chapters alternate between the point of views as well as past and present at the same time. This writing style sort of reminded me of Jandy Nelson's I'll give you the sun. I didn't mind the perspective change because that way I get to know both characters from each other's view. It's common that people view you differently from  how you view yourself sometimes. 

I'm okay with the character's personality it seems real enough for me but I don't quite like them as a person. They have behaviours that I can't agree with and their actions are just naive and nonsense most of the time. This is one of the points that I do not like about this book which is how those kids handled their problems. The premise of the plot was just okay as it's trying to highlight some problems but we do not get to those problems till later of the book. Most of the time it's more about the characters' activities and interactions with other kids. 

Sadly this was not a book I really enjoyed. It had a message but it was also too messed up at the same time. Things weren't handled well and I guess the author might be trying to show a different side of human when all things go wrong. I would not recommend this book to contemporary lovers because you're not missing out on anything. It was a quick read and an easy book to predict. I don't see the value in reading it again.

The Crown by Kiera Cass is the last book in the series. I was excited to read this book but was disappointed that it was so short, everything wrapped up really quickly. The book felt like a rush job and everyone's story just completed in a matter of 278 pages which was way too short for me. I didn't get the satisfaction of the characters growing where they slowly transition into the person the author wanted them to be and have the ending that was meant for them. It was just "oh you were like this and then it became like that" nothing much in between happening. The readers would just have to accept that it ended that way for those characters which were the boys in the Elite specifically.

As for the plot, everything happened really quickly. The whole story was on a speeding train and there was so much more that I feel the author could have expanded on. Because there were so many characters involved, there are so many mini plots that could be written. Even though the book was short I felt that the plot was not exciting enough, I could sort of predict what would happen. Sad to say I'm not satisfied with the twist and turns because I saw it coming.

To be blunt, I was anticipating a lot for this book as the previous book ended with suspense. I am disappointed at the things that happened in the book, the speed of it happening. The characters all did not have room to grow at all and they could have had more happening for them. Overall, it ended the way I thought it would so no surprises there. The first 3 books were certainly good and this last 2 did not give me the same feelings previously. I would recommend people to only read the first 3 and as for the last 2 you don't lose much for not reading it at all.

Top 5 Wednesday - Favorite Character Names

This is one week late because I've been busy but I still thought it was an interesting topic to write about. Characters names certainly play a role in the books as they often represent a little bit of the personality of the character. Other than that, if the name is catchy it will  be easy to remember them and it will definitely trigger hopefully your feelings or memories when reading that book. So here are 5 names that appealed to me because they were great characters and unique names,

Cinder from Cinder

Although it's short from Cinderella but making her an asian character certainly makes her super unique plus the fact that she is a cyborg makes it even cooler.

Marguerite from A Thousand Pieces of You

This name is my first time reading it so it's quite unique to me besides that she is quite a strong character as well. I certainly love her very much in her story.

Celaena from Throne of Glass

A strong character with a strong name. I think it's a strong name because it's one name that people can remember well and also give the other title that she earned, she's not one to mess around with.

Feyre from A Court of Thorns and Roses

I have to say that the author is so creative coming up with wonderful names that is unique and memorable. Besides that, the character that bears that name is an amazing character at the same time.

Rhysand from A Court of Mist and Fury

I love love love this character so much. He is one character that has so much depth and yet there's still some mystery to him. His name certainly suites him and he is one male that I will remember always.

As you can see, there is a strong female presence in the list and only one name made the cut. Honestly I do have some names to mention for male character such as The Darkling, Liam, Kaz Brekker, and Kell. These are also names that I quite love. So what character names is your favourite?

Top 5 Wednesday - Father Figure

In lieu with Father's day coming this weekend, this week's topic is Father figure. Having a father in the family has always been essential for a wholesome family. It is quite hard to get some characters for this topic because many a times I've read books that does not have a father in the family but there are some times that a male character will find themselves in a fatherly role for the main character. So without following order, here is my list:

Arthur Weasley from Harry Potter

How to not love Arthur who is the head of the family for the Weasley. He is at times humorous and also a reliable father when it comes to important stuff. 

Sirius Black from Harry Potter

Godfather of Harry Potter who took care of him even though he was not close to him. I love how Sirius honors his promise to Harry's parents. You can read the love that he has for Harry and it's just beautiful.

Albus Dumbledore from Harry Potter

I always thought Dumbledore took extra care for Harry more than anyone else. He has taught him many life lessons and spoken so wisely many a times to Harry. The sacrifice that Dumbledore made for everyone shows how much of a father he is to everyone in the school and the wizarding world.

King Maxon from The Heir

I love the grown up Maxon very much in the book. He has gone through a lot and it's wonderful when he passes on his wisdom and experiences to Princess Eadlyn.

Shalom Singer from The Selection
America's father is truly different from the family. The connection between father and daughter means so much to the both of them. He often gives good advice to America and trying to help support her emotionally too.

As you can see my selection is quite limited as there are many books that I've read who are young adults that needed to struggle on their own without any father to pass them wisdom. Harry Potter series have the most parents around. So what are your picks?

Top 5 Wednesday - Book Theme Song

This week is an interesting topic to discuss about. Sometimes when you're reading, there is a tendency to imagine everything described and maybe just maybe you'll also have a song in mind for certain scenes. I kinda do that for books who are written in a way that could be a good movie. Books packed with action would be harder to associate a song with because usually in the movies it's music that heats up the scene. As for theme songs, it's easier to associate it with contemporary books. I wouldn't say below are my top 5 theme songs or books because it was quite hard to pick a song to match a book for me. But anyway here are my 5 picks:

Since You've Been Gone - Toploader ~Dancing in the Moonlight

Emily is determined to finish up her list of things to do given by her best friend Sloane. In one of the items, I felt that the song really suited the scene. Emily was required to do certain things late at night so dancing in the moonlight kinda clicks with it for me as it's having fun and being free under the moonlight.

The Crown - Michelle Branch ~You set me free

The reason that I've picked this song is because the candidates in the Selection for Princess Eadlyn has since changed her and helped her grow. In a way those boys kind of help set her free from the perception of how she must act as a princess.

One Day - JJ Lin ~Too Bad

As for this book I do not want to give out spoilers but the timing of the characters of the book is always off. They have the worst timing ever for everything and sadly it made me thought of this song Too Bad. It's a mandarin song singing about missed chances and bad timing.

Ten Thousand Skies Above You - Vanessa Carlton ~ A Thousand Miles

If you haven't heard of this song, I'm a bit sad because this was one big hit when it was out. Everyone was loving it and boys who knew how to play the piano showed off in church. Girls would flock to the piano to hear the guy on the piano. So the song describes that the person would do anything to see his/her other half and it totally applies to the book. Marguerite is doing all she can to save Paul and to have him save in her arms again. Of course there are similar songs but this one sticks with me the most.

Skip Beat - Katy Perry ~ Hot N Cold

So this is a shoujo manga series that's still on going for quite a number of years now. I really love the characters of the story. The reason why I've chosen this song because the relationships/romance of the characters are like the song, Suddenly it's a yes and then it's a no, a number of push and pull happening in the plots. 

I still find it hard to listen to music and read at the same time because I can only concentrate on the book. The lyrics of the song would be distracting me from my book instead and sometimes I also have a strong urge to sing along. When We Collided by Emery Lord is about a girl and a boy falling in love but having struggles of their own at the same time. This is my first time picking up a contemporary book from this author reason because there was a lot of hype in the bookstagram community. The book cover is indeed very attractive and artistic to look at. As for the book itself I find it just okay, I liked it but I didn't love it to recommend it to people. If you pass on this book, you're not missing out at all. 

The plot of the book was okay and kinda predictable for me. I could already predict Vivi's secret easily. I find that this book did not have enough twists and turns but instead it was just a slow ascend up to the twist and then it sloped down. I was kinda disappointed with the relationship because I actually wanted more interactions. I couldn't feel a connection between the characters. The bond between the side characters were also not strong enough. The only thing I enjoy very much is the dual perspective of the book.

Sadly it took me some time to finish this book because it could not capture  my attention well enough. I understand that this book touches the topic of grieving and mental issues but it's just not strong enough to make a statement in my heart. I too am grieving but I can't connect with Jonah at all, it doesn't feel real enough. I would not recommend it to readers who want to try this author perhaps another book of hers. But if you're a fan of hers go ahead and get this book. It wasn't bad just wasn't good enough.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas  is the first book in a series and sort of a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. After completing the book, I wouldn't say it's a retelling but more likely inspired by it. There were some similarities but only at a minimal. I was quite drawn into the book after a few chapters as the background stories of the world is still quite mysterious. The world was so magical and I could tell there was more to it than what I've read. This world is unique, full of magic and full of darkness at the same time. If I was a fantasy character this world would be an exciting world to live in.

The characters of the book are very very interesting people, they pull you in and keep you wanting for more of their stories. I could not help but fall for Tamlin, he is such a gentleman and also cheeky at times. I really love his personality and often hoped for more interaction between him and Feyre. Feyre was a tad annoying at first but her character truly grew and that made the story progress really well. I really think their personalities can compliment each other so well. As for the side character of the story, I wanted more about him because he is so mysterious, reading about his past is so satisfying.  I felt that all characters truly play an important role in the plot.

When a certain character showed up at the second half of the book, things got so so much better. This character gave me the same feeling that the Darkling did in Shadow and Bone. I truly love this new "villain" in the book. When there was more content about him I was like who cares about Tamlin, I want this guy right now =P. I love that the author has written so many fantastic characters for the story. They will capture your attention so well that you forgot they were not real.

The plot of the book was very smooth, it started slow and then it escalated a while. After the first twist in the book, everything in the book was so so good. I think all the incidents that happened was just so shockingly good. The timing for every incident was just perfect, my attention was constantly captured, it was not easy putting down the book at all. It was always such an exciting plot to read, especially towards the end because it was just surprisingly good.

This was such a fantastic book, such a great start. It ended good too and makes me wonder what else is there to happen in the second book. This book set the bar so high that the second book will have very high expectations. Right now, the second book is out and there have been so many great reviews for it. Honestly, comparing this series to the other series that this author is writing, it feels so different. This book was just too good and then the other one is bumped down because of this book. I have already picked up the second book and will be reading it soon. I highly recommend this book to YA fantasy lovers and readers who enjoy books with faeries. I also recommend this if you enjoy fairy tales retelling.  This is easily one of my favorite fantasy right now.

Top 5 Wednesday - Summer Reads

Ahh yes summer is arriving, sadly living in a tropical country I don't see any difference to the weather here. Although I can't relate to the season, I certainly enjoy books in the summer setting because of beaches, lakes and summer houses. I love to read about the ways teenagers spend their holidays and have some summer romance too. So here is my list of books to read to fully enjoy the summer.

This is my most favourite summer reading. It's set in the summer time of course where Emily's best friend has disappeared and left her a list of things to do. Emily believes if she finishes the list it will lead her to Sloane and so she set out using her summer that way. It was a really fun book to read because Emily has many adventures awaiting for her.

I went into this book only knowing it's in the summer time and I was caught by surprise. It was such a lovely summer romance and also family was part of the story. The twist that happened in the book was so good which made me love YA contemporary. This book is the pioneer in my reading for buying more young adult contemporary. I figure that sometimes a bit of teenager love is so cute to read because it makes me reminiscent about my teenager years.

Because of Miss Bridgerton

Because of Miss Bridgerton by Julia Quinn is the latest book related to the Bridgerton series. The timeline of the book is set before The Duke and I and if I'm not wrong it's the aunty of the Bridgerton siblings. I really loved this book because it was funny and also heart warming at the same time. The characters really shine in this book. I love both the main characters very very much.Their interactions with each other is truly entertaining. The side characters for the book which is brother to the main  male was hilarious too. So much personality in all the characters which makes the storyline come alive. 

Speaking of the plot, it's unexpected where I couldn't make any guesses. It was fun reading a romance where I can't predict but I know that the main characters will end up with each other. Throughout the book, the twists that came was really good. I couldn't stop reading because I wanted more interactions between Billie and George. I flew through the book so quickly I somehow wanted more and I felt that the ending was a bit too rushed for me. It would be fun if it stretched more. I liked that the plot is now in a different timeline which makes thing very interesting for me. So much of the history is different for the timeline in the book. Even the fashion is different which intrigues me. 

If you're looking for a fun historical romance then I think this book really hits the spot. The feeling I got from the book was just like when I read the first book in the series. Throughout the Bridgerton series, after the third book it was just okay for me. It's been a long time since I got excited for the Bridgerton family although in this case it was a different member. A very quick read because you can't stop turning the pages and before you know it, the book finished. I highly recommend this for those who already love the author's books. If you're new to historical romance, this book won't spoil you on the sequel series.

Top 5 Wednesday: Characters You Are Most Like

Often when we read we can connect to characters and usually we love their personality. This is because we probably see ourselves in them or maybe we aspire to be like them. This is definitely one hard topic to think about because there are so many characters that I've read about and many that I felt connected to. Firstly these characters are not necessary totally a copy of me, we're just similar. So without being in any order my list is as follows:

Isla

Isla is a very shy and cute girl. The way that she fell in love was just too cute. I see a little bit of myself in her as I do have crushes on boys during my high school years. Acting all sweet and cute, trying to sneak glances at the boy. What a long time ago it was and when I think back I often laugh at my silliness.

Princess Mia

I am no princess that's for sure but the thing that's similar with Mia and I are writing in a diary.  I used to have a habit of writing about everything into my diary and that was in my high school years. Eventually I got lazy. Also we have this thing where overthinking about things/situations, making too many assumptions in common. This always ends up in a disaster but I've long changed that part of me because I always end up making an ass out of myself.

First & Then

Devon Tennyson wouldn't change a thing. She's happy silently crushing on best friend Cas and blissfully ignoring the future after high school. But the universe has other plans. First & Then by Emma Mills is a debut book for the author. This is a book about first love and also about family. It was a short and quick read as the book is only 267 pages long. The reason that I picked up this book is because it was all over social media and it had a good rating. Also the cover design was too cute to pass and under the dust jacket it was cute too. With no expectations and any spoilers I went into the book and surprisingly I enjoyed it.

The characters in the book are not bad, the relationships between them were real. I thought the main character Devon was a really sweet and cute girl. As for the male interest of the book he was quite reserved at first and more than meets the eye slowly you get to know him a bit better. Along the book I enjoyed their interactions immensely and I keep looking forward to more of it. The side characters were good too as they had interesting interactions with Devon. There was much growth for all of the characters in the book which caught me by surprise as this was a short book. I quite liked Foster in the book as he is a cute kid and also dealing with a difficult issue.

I thought the plot was good because it was unexpected as I was not able to predict anything at all. The twist was good too because it was surprising. I loved the flow of the book and felt that the story was too short and wished it was longer. Overall, the book was short and sweet with a good message or two incorporated. I would say that this book was more of a coming of age book than a love story. If you're looking for a light contemporary read then I recommend this book to you. You'll be surprised that this short book can be such an enjoyment. 

Top 5 Wednesday - Books I'm Intimidated By

When books intimidate me I would just put it aside in my TBR pile, thinking that I'll get to it one day, probably. So these are books that are typically in a subject that I'm not the most interested in but still a little bit curious about it. Another reason would be that the English is too deep so it would be hard for me to understand and thus reading it will take a long time too. Sometimes books that are too thick also intimidates me because my attention span is quite short. Not to forget that books that won any prizes also intimidates me because I'm afraid I would not love it and would not understand why it was awarded.

Without further delay, here is my list not in any particular order:

The Book Thief

I've had this book sitting on my bookshelf for more than a year and I've still not read it. I roughly know what's the book about as there was a movie based on the book. I'm quite afraid to read it because it's quite a thick book and also it's historical fiction. This genre often scares me because I do not know my history well. History was not my favourite subject in school and we did not have much topics on world history in the syllables. Hopefully I'll pick it up soon.

All the Light We Cannot See

This is another book that is in the historical fiction genre. Other than that, it won an award THE PULITZER PRIZE. With the award, it has already scared me because it gives me the impression that it's a deep book. It really intimidates me because I'm afraid I would not feel the same as those who have read it. I feel pressured when it comes to books with so much attention and high ratings.
