A Million Worlds With You

A million universes. A million dangers. One destiny.

The fate of the multiverse rests in Marguerite Caine’s hands. Marguerite has been at the center of a cross-dimensional feud since she first traveled to another universe using her parents’ invention, the Firebird. Only now has she learned the true plans of the evil Triad Corporation—and that those plans could spell doom for dozens or hundreds of universes, each facing total annihilation.

Paul Markov has always been at Marguerite’s side, but Triad’s last attack has left him a changed man—angry and shadowed by tragedy. He struggles to overcome the damage done to him, but despite Marguerite’s efforts to help, Paul may never be the same again.

So it’s up to Marguerite alone to stop the destruction of the multiverse. Billions of lives are at stake. The risks have never been higher. And Triad has unleashed its ultimate weapon: another dimension’s Marguerite—wicked, psychologically twisted, and always one step ahead.

In the conclusion to Claudia Gray’s Firebird trilogy, fate and family will be questioned, loves will be won and lost, and the multiverse will be forever changed. It’s a battle of the Marguerites…and only one can win.
  - excerpt from book.

A Million Worlds With You by Claudia Gray is the final book in the firebird series. I finally picked up this book, it has been sitting long on my shelf as I dread the ending of it. Catching up right where the book left us at the second book's ending, things are just way too exciting. We jump into action and adventure without much of a break for my favourite characters. This round they are slightly different people from the previous as they have grown and also went through some terrible experiences. Much of their actions are influenced by their new found attitude which was understandable and realistic. I love that we get to visit some old worlds and also have new ones. The author has done such a good job maintaining the difference between all the parallel worlds. It's the minor difference of the characters that get  me the most in a sense that one small detail can change so much of reality. The instance of what ifs are the core of the story.

I often sigh when it comes to Marguerite and Paul because their love is just so dreamy and real at the same time. I love all the interaction they have and I want so much more for them but alas this book is more focused on Marguerite saving the worlds. As she journeys through and discovers all the different versions of herself she learns to grow even more. At times she can be quite annoying but it fits well with her character. Seeing all the characters' consequences come into full view in this book was such a joy. A slight disappointment for me would be the lack of involvement of my favourite side character. But still with the growth and actions the plot moves forward with ease.

Ten Thousand Skies Above You

Ten Thousand Worlds.
Ten Thousand Enemies.
One Love

Marguerite Caine has done the impossible, travelling to alternate dimensions with the Firebird- the brilliant invention of her parents, her boyfriend, Paul and their friend Theo. But she has also caught the attention of enemies willing to kidnap,  blackmail, and even kill to use the Firebird for themselves.

When Paul's soul is splintered into four pieces- pieces that are trapped within Paul in other dimensions - Marguerite will do anything, and travel anywhere, to save him. But the price of his safe return is steep. If she doesn't sabotage her parents in multiple universes, Paul will be lost forever.

Unwilling to sacrifice her family, Marguerite enlists the brilliant Theo to help, The two forge a plan to save Paul and the Firebird, but succeeding means outsmarting a genius and risking not only their lives but also the lives of their counterparts in every other dimension.

Their mission takes them to the most dangerous universes yet: a war-torn San Francisco, the criminal underworld of New York City, and a glittering Paris where another Marguerite hides a shocking secret. Each leap brings Marguerite closer to saving Paul-but her journey reveals dark truths that lead her to doubt the one constant she's found between the worlds: their love for each other.  - excerpt from book.

Ten Thousand Skies Above You by Claudia Gray is the second book in the Firebird trilogy. Right from the start the book had already captured my attention, it had such an exciting start. The first chapter was really good and the rest of chapters were just amazing. The dimensions involved describe by the author was just so fascinating to read about and of course our heroine's adventures there was just as exciting as the world she jump to.

You will not stop reading as you just want to keep knowing what is going to happen, the storyline just keeps getting better. The plot twists and turns so well, so unexpectedly, it always catch you by surprise. I love all the events and incidents that happened in the story and all the reactions of the heroine touched my heart dearly. You could say that the flow of the book was just perfect, no flaws to talked about at all.  I love how the author brings the dimension into life with the description of the places. It's just so good where the timeline is same for all dimensions but because of some things, the world is in a totally different state and era.

I love the characters in the book very much, all of them were special and unique people. I especially love the main heroine, she really grew a lot in the book and also her actions were just really true to her personality. I also love how there can be many possibilities for each character in a different dimension where circumstances are different which changes your outcomes in life, certainly quite true in reality.  But out of everything I love, the thing that made me love this book the most is the Marguerite's love for Paul. It touched my heart greatly and it's exactly how I feel about my boyfriend too. The way she describe her feelings is just the same as mine and it was this point that made me connect with the character which made me love the book so so much. Below are some lines that meant a lot to me in the book, there are more but I forgot to jot it down:

"But grief changes. It softens, adapts its shape to become part of you. The kind of sorrow never gets any lighter, but you grow accustomed to the weight as you carry it on." - Pg 342 line 27 to pg 343 line 2

"I would love you in any shape, in any world, with any past." - Pg 369 line 12

The author has done a fantastic job in building the world, writing about the character's feelings, their actions and reactions all together in this wonderful second book. I highly recommend this to young adult fantasy lovers, readers who enjoy dimension travel, readers who enjoy an adventure with many many twists. Lastly, I have to say if you read the first book, why miss the second book? The first book is one of my favourite and this second book has easily topped it and become my most favourite book that I read this year. Truly a fantastic sequel to a fantastic start. If you have not read the first book, here is my review: click here =)

A Thousand Pieces Of You

A thousand lives.
A thousand posibilities.
One fate.
Marguerite Caine grew up surrounded by cutting-edge scientific theories, thanks to her brilliant physicist parents. Yet nothing us more astounding than her mother's latest invention - a device called the Firebird, which allows people to leap into alternate dimensions.

When Marguerite's father is murdered, all the evidence points to one person - Paul, her parents' enigmatic star student. Before the law can touch him, Paul escapes into another dimension. having committed what seems like the perfect crime. But he didn't count on Marguerite. She doesn't know if she can kill a man, but she's going to find out.

With the help of another physics student, Theo, Marguerite chases Paul through various dimensions. In each new world Marguerite leaps to, she meets another version of Paul that has her doubting his guilt and questioning her heart. Is she doomed to repeat the same betrayal?

As Marguerite races through these wildly different lives - a grand duchess in a Tsarist Russia, a club-hopping orphan in a futuristic London, a refugee from worldwide flooding on a station in the heart of the ocean - she is swept into an epic love affair as dangerous as it is irresistible. - excerpt from book cover.

A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray is the first book in the Firebird trilogy. Firstly, the cover of the book is so gorgeous and so perfect for the book. The other thing that attracted my attention is the summary of the book, it was already so exciting. The first page itself got me hooked and it was hard to put down the book as it was really exciting from the beginning. The adventure begins right away and along the way things that you don't understand will be revealed. I like this type of writing because something about the past not only expands your story but also reveals the personality of the character who is recalling a memory.

The book has a unique story which is traveling to different dimensions and the thing I like about it is the mechanics to it is simple to understand. The author did not make it difficult and invent something too complicated for the story. If the science is too complicated, flaws are bound to happen. When readers have questions in their minds and if unanswered then it's a flaw to me. Keeping things simple makes the book more enjoyable without having to think too much and it's easier to picture it in your head. The plots are really smooth and so so hard to predict, so many good twists in the storyline.

My heart leaps when it comes to the romance of the book. I really feel the relationships and it got me crying at one point as I realize I totally fell in love with the characters. I like the way we get to slowly learn about the characters in the past and present. The side characters were really good too, they compliment the story really well. The main character's growth in the story was present and I thought it was suitable for her. One of the side characters also gave me the feels for him but I think in the next book things might change for him. I really like the writing method that this author used for character build up.

Overall I loved the whole book as the story and especially the characters really captured my heart. I totally fell in love with the book and I cannot wait for the second book to be out. The ending was not a cliffhanger so I'm not sure what to predict for the next one. This book is just excitement from start to end, you will have a hard time putting it down. I highly recommend this book to fantasy readers who like romance and sci-fi included also. There was this conversation between characters that gave me the feels and I absolutely have to share it here:

"I would love you in any shape, in any world, with any past. Never doubt that." - page 203, line 21.
